Sunsine Coast
The Sunshine Coast is situated on the stretch of beaches between Caloundra and Cooloola National Park just 90km north of Brisbane. The area boasts warm weather all year round, with winter temperatures reaching a high of 25°C. The area boasts a lot more than just its beautiful sand for sunbathing; it is home to some of Australia’s best golf courses, fishing locations and renowned surfing beaches such as Coolum, Maroochydore and Alexandra Headland. A wide range of watersport opportunities are available, for such activities as abseiling, sky-diving, sea-kayaking and of course, surfing. The Sunshine Coast is also home to an abundance of wildlife and nature with bushwalks available through Blackall Ranges, exploration of the Botanical Gardens, and the opportunity to hand-feed deers at the Forest Glen Sanctuary.
This fourty mile stretch of idyllic surfing beaches contains coastal townships such as Caloundra, Mooloolaba, Maroochydore, Coolum and Noosa. The area is sprinkled with award-winning resorts containing golf courses, health spas and beach-front apartments offering fantastic views of the magnificent perfect-surf coastline. Nestled behind the Sunshine Coast's beaches are lush, subtropical hills containing pineapple and sugar cane farms. A wealth of cultural delights await you here such as painters, potters and quaint pubs serving delicious lunches to be enjoyed al fresco.
Whist on the Sunshine Coast, every effort should be made to visit the world famous Noosa area including its National Park which offers spectacular views of the ocean. Noosa's trendy Hastings Street is also worth a visit to browse this district renowned for its designer shopping.
