Katherine Gorge is a collection of thirteen natural gorges up to 70km in height carved into the sandstone cliffs of the Katherine River. Each separate gorge is separated by rocks and boulders within the Nitmiluk National Park. The park is owned by the Jawoyn Aboriginal people, and is said to have been around for over 23 million years.
