Broken Hill

Broken Hill is often referred to as the ‘silver city’ because of its associations with silver, lead and zinc mining. The region is also famous for its agricultural industry, as it homes 1.75 million wool-producing sheep. Broken Hill is described as an ‘oasis in the desert’, as its lush green parks and gardens provide a contrast to the surrounding outback. The area’s rich Aboriginal heritage can be explored at the Thankakali Aboriginal Arts and Crafts Centre.
